Hi there! I’m Aimee Frank,
a lettering artist, strategic designer, and calligrapher.
Born and raised in Northern California, I’m endlessly inspired by our incredible natural environment and the innovative and diverse culture of the Bay Area.
Born and raised in Northern California, I’m endlessly inspired by our incredible natural environment and the innovative and diverse culture of the Bay Area.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design at San Jose State, combining my love of letters with intense curiosity and a drive to solve problems. From design, to art direction, and creative direction, I've loved mentoring creative people, collaborating with clients, and working on a wide range of projects from invitations, packaging, magazines and event graphics to identity systems and more. I've also enjoyed working with non-profits in the Bay Area as both a strategic partner and member. I seek to bring an open mind, unique problem solving skills, and fun to each experience, while making an impact in big and small ways.
As a child, I dreamt of being an inventor or scientist. I also loved art and lettering, dance, and selling things in the neighborhood for candy money. A calligraphy class with Mrs. Gault in middle school sparked a lifelong love of letters and calligraphy that only continues to grow.
What I Bring
A hand-crafted touch. Starting with a strong foundation through a clear creative brief and solid research, each design begins with sketches, focusing on getting ideas on paper and starting to shape them into something tangible.
Creative partnership. My approach will always include listening to my clients and working to create something that suits their individual needs.
Clear communication. I will always strive for a smooth process and a calm, grounded experience from start to finish.
From packaging, to book covers, to branding for small business, I will bring a personal, detailed, and thoughtful approach to every project.
Why A Frank Design?
Frankly, I do give a damn (just had to say it). I started this studio to work with people who care deeply about their craft, their community, and their impact.
Whether I’m designing a logo or label for your winery, a mural for your café, or visuals for your nonprofit, I’m here to help you express what matters most in a way that resonates with your customer and makes you stand out, clearly and professionally.
I'm excited to share that my work was featured in the Yearbook of Lettering 2!
Described as an “inspirational showcase and a practical guide for designers, agencies, and lettering enthusiasts worldwide.”
This piece was inspired by my brother Travis, who would often cheer me on saying, “You’re so rad!” It was pretty rad to be featured, I must admit. If no one has told you recently, “You're so rad!!”
Check out my post about the piece on Instagram, here.
A Few Things I Love
A perfect cup of coffee. Good people. Traveling and enjoying new neighborhoods and cuisines.
(We have any amazing range of cuisines nearby—always looking for recommendations!)
Hiking along the coast or redwoods on our beautiful trails around the Bay Area.
Getting inspired by found lettering all around.
Hanging out with friends and family, enjoying a nice hazy IPA, or looking for nudibranchs (these are beautiful sea slugs, by the way).
Seeing a client completely stoked when they get to see their product anew through my design.
